I've been talking about Christian nationalism and why I believe it's the greatest threat to democracy for years now. I've had the

chance to interview almost every major scholar on the topic. I've read countless books and I've kept

up to date on the sociological data, but I'm not sure if I ever made a piece of content that gave

you the breakdown of what Christian nationalism is and how much of the population believes it. And I don't think

I've explained why I think that this topic is not being talked about enough in mainstream

and progressive media spaces. So that's what this piece is all about. When I say Christian

nationalism, what exactly am I talking about and why the heck am I always talking about it? Well, the short

answer is this. Because in my opinion, it's the primary reason that we are in the political

mess that we find ourselves. And yet, most people have never heard the term or the names of the

people working behind the scenes that have given the Trump administration the directives that it's

currently enacting. Think about it. In just a few short months, Trump has gutted major parts of our government,

including the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID, which is the principal U.S. agency

to extend assistance to countries recovering from disaster, trying to escape poverty,

and engaging in democratic reforms. The Department of Education,

which ensures that civil rights laws are followed in public schools, has been mostly dismantled.

An unelected billionaire and his minions were given unfettered access to government systems

in the name of eradicating waste. And fact check, they haven't done that yet.

Legal immigrants are literally being kidnapped in broad daylight. Some are

being deported and the Trump administration is openly defying court orders to bring them home.
