I'm joined today by Robert Atkinson of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation.

He, along with co-author David Michela, has a new book out.

It's called Technology Fears and Scapegoats, 40 Myths About Privacy, Jobs, AI, and Today's Innovation

Economy.

That title is pretty self-explanatory, so I won't add much else by way of introduction.

Needless to say, Rob and David, don't just lay out 40 anti-tech myths and write,

here they are and go home. They do a great job of making the case for why their targets are

indeed myths and harmful myths at that.

It's a very informative book. It is out. I am delighted to discuss it with Rob today.

It's great to have you back.

I have an incredibly creative plan for going through this episode, which is to start at the top

with myth number one and go through in order to Myth 40.

We will not cover them all, but many of them stood out to me. We'll see how many

of the ones I flagged will get to. Starting again with Myth 1, you deal with the issue of whether

tech is changing the world faster than ever before. And this is in some ways a tricky one,

because you have people who are scared

because they say tech is on a runaway train. And you have people who are scared because they say

we've gotten the low-hanging fruit and tech is slowing down. And that can be a little bit annoying
