Today, the Bible Study podcast continues the study of Psalms with Psalm 34.

We continue on with an interesting

Psalm, Psalm 34. It is yet another Psalm of praise. It is a Psalm by David. What makes this one more

interesting is the introduction. The introduction says of David when he pretended to be insane before

Abimelech, who drove him away and he left.

David, as you may recall, was under persecution by Saul, and he spent some of that time with the

enemies of Israel, and at least once he protected himself by pretending insanity.

And apparently at the time he wrote this Psalm. This is a Psalm of someone who has gotten

out of a very difficult situation, and you'd think that he's gotten out of this difficult situation

because of his own cunning. But this is what David says. I will extol the Lord at all times. His praise

will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord. Let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me. Let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord and he answered me. He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant. Their faces are never covered with shame.

This poor man called, and the Lord heard him. He saved him out of all his troubles.

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

Now, a couple things that are interesting about that is one is there is reason that if David got

out of his situation by his own actions, he might think that he is the one responsible.

And that would be a very logical thing. It might be something that I would do or you would do.

And yet David is giving God credit for extracting him from a difficult situation. The other thing that's odd about

this, if you put this in context with where David was at the time, David is still under threat.

David's problems haven't gone away. David has been rescued from the particular situation,
