0:00.0 | This is a Glassbox Media Podcast. |
0:30.0 | Welcome to Crawl Space. I'm Tim here today with Lance. Lance, how are you today? |
0:41.0 | I'm doing fantastic today, Tim. Spring has officially sprung. The weather outside is getting warmer, which means that all these new particles and pollen and all of these allergens are in the air, so that's why my voice sounds like James Earl Jones right now. |
0:57.0 | I'm a bit James Earl Jones sounding, but I hope everyone out there is feeling good. If you have allergies, just, you know, take care of yourselves, and how are you, Tim? How's your allergic reaction to this season? |
1:06.0 | I'm doing fine. Totally fine outside so far. I'm enjoying the sunshine and the warmer weather, and I'm really excited to introduce this conversation that we recently had with Eric Ulyss and Stephanie Rabinoets. |
1:22.0 | And these two joined us on an episode of one of our other podcasts, Empty Frames, which is all about art crime, art heists, and mostly specifically about the Gardener Heist from Boston, Massachusetts in 1990. |
1:36.0 | And that was the last time we spoke with Eric and Stephanie. It was about that case, because Stephanie actually dated one of the suspects in the Gardener Heist. |
1:45.0 | Not only did she date the suspect, but she kept a diary of her time dating him with some detailed entries that after reading on the last time we spoke with the both of them, he presented the information to us, and there's nothing definitive about her saying my boyfriend or my ex-boyfriend was involved in this crime, but there were factors that might have implicated him in being in that area at the time, or the fact that he asked her to be his alibi when the FBI actually approached him about this. |
2:13.0 | So what he was doing was asking her to lie to the authorities about his whereabouts that night. She wasn't with us, so she said I'm not going to lie, which was probably the biggest bombshell the first time we spoke to them. |
2:24.0 | And I don't know if what we have in this episode is as big of a bombshell. We have to wait until some test results come back, but this is a pretty big development. |
2:32.0 | It's pretty interesting. Yeah, Eric Ulus has been working on the Gardener Heist for a while. He also has written a book about the DB Cooper case, and he's gotten into JFK a little bit, and all sorts of mysteries, and you can find out more about Eric at EricUlus.com, link in the show notes. |
2:51.0 | And he is a great guest because he dives really deep and really tries to get to the bottom. And the bottom of this for Eric and Stephanie was going to Los Angeles and where Brian McDevitt used to live and searching the fireplace to see if he could have burnt the Gardener art. |
3:11.0 | Now, in all of this sounds very circumstantial. All of the what ifs. You know, Brian McDevitt, being a part of this, what if he took it here? What if he did this? Why was he even involved in the Heist in the first place? |
3:21.0 | But Eric's got answers for those. Some of them are theoretical. Some of them actually are backed up by facts. Now, the reason for him being in this house, not going to give anything away, was based on something that Brian had said to a friend, which was verified by that friend to Eric. |
3:35.0 | When Eric went into the home, the odds of something be burned in that fireplace and the ashes still there for over 30 years was very, very slim. So that was like our biggest hang up, I think, when we asked him like, why in the world where there still be ashes in there? |
3:49.0 | And there was such a perfectly logical solution to that and that it would press me so much. |
3:54.0 | Yeah, it's very interesting. And I hope everybody really enjoys this conversation. And we are going to run this on our art crime podcast called Empty Frames as well. So if you're listening to this on Empty Frames, but you want more Tim and Lance exploring mysteries, you can find out plenty of that. |
4:12.0 | We have hundreds of episodes on crawl space and missing where we dive into crimes and missing persons. So definitely go check those out. And if you're listening to this on crawl space, make sure you binge Empty Frames. It is a great podcast and I don't know, maybe 25 total episodes or something like that. |
4:28.0 | It really is. And Tim, this one is such a page turner as far as how listenable it is. And sometimes these episodes get broken up by ads. And if one wanted to listen to this page turner of an episode without the ads, plus all that other content that you just mentioned, where would they go? |
4:46.0 | Well, our dear listeners can find crawl space premium on Apple podcasts. They can subscribe. It's 499 per month. You get ad free episodes. You get early releases and you get our weekly bonus show, which everybody loves. And if you're not an Apple podcast user, you can go to crawlspace.supportingcast.fm and sign up for the same product there. |
5:09.0 | And Tim, you know what I'm hoping is not burned up and now ashes in a fireplace in LA? What's that? Our social media? Is that still floating around out there? |
5:17.0 | Jeez, well, I guess that'd be that'd be difficult to burn. But yeah, no, it's still out there. You can follow us at crawlspace podcast or crawlspace pod. Thanks a lot for listening everybody. |
