I don't need to tell you that few conditions in medicine and psychology suffer from more caricature, stereotype, flat out lies or disinformation than ADHD.

Those diagnosed with ADHD run into these stereotypes daily. Friends, family, co-workers, even thumb, clinicians and educators perpetuate these stereotypes with inaccurate facts and misguided opinions.

I guess if they're inaccurate, they're not facts, right? It's our job to know the facts about ADHD and to push back when confronted with these myths and misinformation and false narratives.

So that is what we are doing here today and all month long in ADHD Awareness Month. So in today's webinar, we are going to spend some time really engaging in a dialogue about the most common stereotypes that face both children and adults, men and women with ADHD and that hamper understanding of the condition.

We'll be talking about some strategies for those feelings of shame or guilt that many people report when they do encounter these inaccurate statements and also how to communicate with friends and family and others about ADHD.

So all leading this whole discussion, we are so fortunate today to have with us, Edward Hollowell, MD and Sarah Stolden, MS. Ned Hollowell is a child and adult psychiatrist.
