Hello and welcome to Sigma Nutrition Radio. My name is Danny Lennon and you are listening

0:19.8

to episode 374 of the podcast. Today we're

0:24.5

going to be talking all about combat sport nutrition and weight cutting. And this episode,

0:30.3

in fact, is one in which I was the interviewee. And this was a conversation that I originally

0:35.1

had for the Fight Science podcast hosted by my good friend Jordan Sullivan, who he himself is a renowned sports dietician in Australia.

0:45.4

He's the owner of the fight dietitian.

0:47.8

And he oversees the nutrition for several UFC athletes, notably including UFC champions, Israel Idasanya, and Alexander Volkovsky.

0:58.4

And Jordan's been doing some fantastic work for a long period of time, and I've really enjoyed

1:02.4

chatting to him on a number of occasions. And as part of a series he did on his own podcast,

1:09.2

a while back, we had a real long, detailed, deep discussion

1:13.4

on all aspects of combat sport nutrition and weight cutting. But I really enjoyed this

1:19.3

particular conversation, not only because we got to go into some detail on it, but obviously

1:24.4

given Jordan's expertise, both in the field of dietetics and sports

1:30.1

nutrition, but also as a practitioner working specifically with combat sport athletes, he was very

1:36.0

aware of the issues that sports nutritionists and sports dietitians face in trying to plan for the nutrition and weight cuts for these

1:47.1

athletes. And so it allowed us to have some really interesting back and forth and some really good

1:52.3

questions. And so I wanted to share that particular conversation with you guys. And Jordan

1:58.2

kindly agreed to let me post this conversation so I hope it ends up

2:03.8

being useful to you if you are a sports nutritionist if you're a sports dietitian

2:07.7

especially if you work with people in the area of combat sports but even if you don't I

2:12.2

think there's a lot you can think of from a more conceptual level of seeing how we try and think through some of these

2:18.7

problems. So I hope it's useful. If it is, please let me know. On the show notes page to this
