0:27.0	It is part of the identity of a Christian to be a person of penance, of prayer and fasting. Most of us are not good at this and
0:38.6	so the church in her wisdom has established a period of fasting. We know that as Lent or the
0:48.9	Great Lent. So today we're going to go through the name of Lent, the origin of Lent, Lent in the church fathers, Lent in the
0:57.1	medievals, Thomas Aquinas on Lent, the nature of fasting, how that began to change and become more lax in the
1:08.1	1800s, the late 1800s with the Industrial Revolution.

1:18.4	So we need a game plan on how we're going to keep
1:22.1	a lint that is truly penitential.

1:51.4	holy prelates, cardinals, bishops, popes, but it also has to do with what you see there on the screen,
1:58.5	Matthew 1721, but this kind is not cast out but by prayer and fasting. So we got to be serious
2:07.2	We got to take this seriously so before we get into the name of Lent and the origin of Lent and the church fathers on Lent.
