you love and hate simultaneously. Movie musical month continues this week with the

2021 adaptation of Westside Story. Yes a movie that I think would technically be considered a flop which I think is so

sad because it is one of the best things that Spielberg has done in years.

It's incredible.

I think it's one of the best musical adaptations ever for film. I think it had a couple of things really working against it,

partially the pandemic, partially the demographic it was tried to court,

partially a star who was embroiled in school. partially the demographic was tried to court,

partially a star who was embroiled in sort of a sexual assault

controversy, right as the movie was starting to be advertised.

And it's not ever funny.

Funny isn't the right word, but it's always like

there's something kind of wild about seeing

a publicity campaign where there's something brewing

in the background and all of a sudden one actor kind of disappears and all of these other actors start moving forward and you're like, oh, okay.

Something's gone wrong here.
