Hey, Israel's story listeners, it's Mishi.

So Israel is obviously in the midst of a deep identity crisis.

A historic struggle, battle even over the very nature of the state.

Mounted policemen in Maktaziot, or water cannons, have become part of our daily lives.

In some parts of the country, people chant democracy, whereas in others, people hold up signs

that say, Teo-Kraktia, theocracy, and of course, there's everything in between.

Now personally, I know exactly where I stand, and have been very active in the demonstrations.

But as a show, our response to the debate about what it means to be a Jewish and democratic

state is our year-long sign-sealed delivered series, in which we go back to the founding

principles upon which Israel was created, and try through the eyes of its framers, the

signatories on its declaration of independence, to map where we came from, and where we're

headed.

We've released about a third of the sign-sealed delivered episodes thus far, and

we'll now be taking a short summer break, during which we'll re-release our beloved

2018 mini-series, mixtape, and maybe even throw in a new Israel story episode or two.

The reason we've decided to re-air mixtape is that each one of its four episodes explores

a riff or a fall line within Israeli society that is now re-emerged as central to the

national debate.
