There was a strange door in the middle of an aisle in the grocery store.

I went through it.

I was apparently the only one who could see the door.

I looked around, expecting to everyone to be gawking at this suddenly appeared structure,

but no one seemed to notice it.

Everyone went about their business, completely ignorant to the steel rectangle in the middle of the aisle.

My first thoughts were, of course, that I had, somehow, gone crazy, was suffering from some suddenly onset psychological issue.

Acting in accordance with this thought, I proceeded to walk ahead, thinking I would pass through the door,

hoping that upon seeing it, it was just some sort of mirage, and it would then disappear.

But I instead walked right into the door, smacking my face on the cold metal surface.

I cried out and nearly fell back. Tears welled in my eyes, and my

nose burned. A few nearby shoppers turned and saw me, and knowing that they couldn't see the

door. I quickly blurted out that there had been a bug on my face, and I had slapped it away.

Confused smiles and raised eyebrows were the only responses.

While pretending to compare two boxes of oatmeal, I tried to regain my composure and study the strange, certifiably physical door.

There was a curved metal handle, and the door was rimmed by a slightly darker, rusted threshold.

Its height was about ten feet, with maybe four inches.
