0:20.3	Welcome back to The Daily Blade. Hey, this one's going to be a little bit different this week.
0:23.8	I'm going to spend each day unpacking five different leadership lessons that I've learned
0:29.3	in ministry for the last 30 years and especially leading the Church of 1122 over the last
0:35.7	more than 12 years. This isn't my normal, just unpacking
0:39.3	the scriptures. I'll get back to that next time. I hope it's helpful. And if you have any authority
0:44.8	over people, whether you're a husband, a dad, a boss, a mom, a coach, whatever it is, this is for
0:51.5	you. So in no particular order, just day by day, the first
0:55.8	leadership lesson is this, is that direction is more important than vision. That's right.
1:02.6	Direction is more important than vision. I don't actually have a grand vision for 1122,
1:08.0	but I do know what we have been called to do, and I do know the direction that we have
1:13.4	been called to go, and it is my job for our church, for me, to set that direction. We are a
1:20.0	movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ. Now,
1:23.9	when you think about vision, vision is like a picture of the preferred future the the problem with
1:29.6	that i'm not anti-vision the problem is what happens when you arrive well then you have to have a new
1:34.5	vision for the next season and if i look back over my shoulder in the last 12 years or so
1:40.9	my visions would have all been too small for what God wanted to do here at the
1:46.6	Church of 1122. And maybe if we would have accomplished those visions, then I could have been tempted
1:54.9	to take my foot off of the gas when we reached that vision. Instead, what I've done is just hammered down in the direction
2:02.0	that God has called us to, which is just to make disciples, that make disciples,
2:05.6	and make disciples.
