Hello friends and welcome back to The Hamilkast.

I'm Jillian and this is the second half of my conversation with Red Child,

MC, musician, producer and currently Mulligan Madison in Germany.

Last week's episode was packed, with Red telling us about being a mixed-race kid

growing up in Berlin and never feeling accepted.

And when did all that change?

When he made his way to, wait for it, rural Kansas where he lived for a year as a teenager.

He came back to Germany inspired to create beats and music and make moves as an MC.

He started his own jams around Germany, he was booking gigs, he was learning life lessons

about empathy and his artistic process and living experiences instead of judging them.

Yeah, good reminders for all of us by the way.

But with Red specifically, this stems from the culture of hip hop.

As he said last week, rap always got me in the room somehow.

And speaking of, let's head to the show.

Right now, Red Child is explaining what he knew about Hamilton before he was invited to audition.

Well, when I was asked, I knew about the show.

I didn't know about it in detail.

I think I started part of it on one of John Oliver's tonight's specials.
