I'm Jason Kuznicki is here.

He is editor-in-chief at Tech Freedom.

Late last year, Jason published a paper in Cosmos and Taxus,

a forum for Studies on emergent order and organization.

The title of Jason's article is Gender as Essence and as Economic Choice.

As an introductory piece in the publication notes, technology is likely in time to eradicate the concept of gender

as anything other than a collection of traits one can pick or choose. Traits that can be as

permanent or as transitory as one might desire. Assume that that world is coming. Jason's essay is, among other things, a deft meditation

on how, given that assumption, we might view the world differently today.

This is the Tech Policy Podcast. I'm Corbyn Barthold. Devotees of the show will know that I've tried to host

a big picture episode of the podcast each year, an episode that grapples with a deep societal issue,

or that looks far into the future, or that dives deeply into philosophy in some way or other.

There was no official big picture episode in 2023,

but we're going to fill the gap today.

that they are not to be approached without some humor and some bewilderment.

That's a quote from the great Freeman Dyson. It captures how I feel this morning.

Gender is certainly a topic that can cause tempers to flare these days. But Jason has written a very

civilized and far-sighted paper, and I quite look forward to discussing it with him.
