Continuing on with Psalm 25, in you, Lord my God, I put my trust. I trust in you. Do not let me be put to shame,

nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame,

but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. And this is a psalm of David.

And as I read this, again, we don't know when David wrote this, but think about some times in David's life that he has in some fashion put his trust in what God has said, even when it might look foolish to those around him. And one of the examples I thought of is, remember, David is the

son-in-law of the king, and he gets very popular. David gets very popular as a warrior. The king gives

him his daughter in marriage even, and then he gets jealous of him. King Saul does. And so David has to

flee for his life. At one point, David is in a cave and Saul and his people decide to sleep in the cave,

and so they kind of retreat into the back of the cave.

And as they're sleeping, David comes upon the sleeping king, Saul.

Now, what the world would say at this point is if there's somebody who's trying to kill you,

who's just kind of a little crazy at this point, too,

David should just run his sword through him and be done with it.

And in fact, David's men say, why don't you kill him?

And basically, David says, how can I do that?

This is the Lord's anointed.
