Summary

I don’t run from boredom. I see it as a signal that things are under control. When everything is working the way it should, it often feels repetitive, stable, and even a little boring. In this episode, I explain why boredom is not a problem, it’s a sign of disciplined execution. What feels dull is usually what’s actually working and compounding over time. If you always need stimulation, you might be chasing activity instead of real progress. Show Notes: [04:06]1 Boredom reflects system stability. [08:42]#2 Stimulation competes with depth. [13:30]#3 Those who tolerate boredom outlast those who chase excitement. [19:17] Recap Episodes Mentioned: 1254: Inches And Miles Next Steps: --- Execution is not a talent. It is a measurable standard. If your results don’t match your ability, you are not lacking information—you are lacking execution reliability. The Execution Reliability Index (ERI) identifies exactly where your discipline breaks, where your standards drop, and where your results are leaking. This is not theory. This is a system. This is Drey Baldwin. And Work on your game is the system that turns discipline into dominance. Today's topic is boredom is a signal of control.

Now boredom is something that most people, especially in today's world, when we have the option of constant stimulation,

0:56.8

most people try to avoid. Actually, we don't try to avoid boredom. We structure our lives

1:02.8

to where boredom is pretty much impossible. And if we do find ourselves bored for even a moment,

1:08.5

we usually have a handheld device within arm's reach that we

can open up and find something to engage us, something to stimulate us, even if we just looked at it

1:19.3

a couple minutes ago and we decided that we looked at everything we needed to look at. We

still come right back to it. I'm going to argue here today that boredom is actually a good thing and it's a

1:27.8

sign that you have things in control the way that you want them to be whenever you do find

1:32.9

yourself feeling bored because most people, as I just said, avoid boredom because they're addicted

to stimulation. Stimulation does not mean progress. Stimulation does not mean affecting this.

1:41.2

Stimulation does not mean you're doing something of consequence. It just means that you are engaged, mentally engaged in some way. But in serious environments,

1:49.6

boredom is a reflection of repetition, same stuff over and over again, stability. You know exactly
