9th. In August the 9th, 1936, 85 years ago today, Jesse Owens, one is fourth gold medal

at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Lenny Riefenstahl's famous film The Games seems to show Hitler storming

out to the stadium. But what's that really what happened? Well, like most things, it's

much more complicated than that. Like most things in history, it's much more complicated

than that. Alba Neuons. A bit more nuanced. Albert Spear, although of course, remember,

Spear, not exactly the most reliable witness, said, Hitler was highly annoyed by the series

of triumphs by the marvelous color of American runner Jesse Owens. People whose antecedents

came from the jungle were primitive. Hitler said, with a shrug, their physique is stronger

than those of civilized whites, and hence should be excluded from future games. Well, I mean,

Hitler's on, he's on message. There's an e-frimmed, yeah. It's pretty consistent.

Yeah, it's pretty consistent. But in October that year, Owens said himself, some people say

Hitler snubbed me, but I tell you, Hitler did not snub me. I'm not not in a president. Remember,

I'm not a politician. But remember that president did not send me a message of congratulations,

because people said he was too busy. Yeah, I mean, you know, I mean, this is going to lead

to lots of talk about. Interestingly, Owens was allowed to travel and stay in the same

accommodation as the white American athletes, while in Germany. But when he attended a reception

on a back in New York, he was not allowed to enter the wall door for story through the

main doors. Instead, he traveled up to reset the reception in the freight elevator. I mean,
