I take refuge in the self,

the indivisible, the existence,

consciousness, bliss absolute,

beyond the reach of words and thought

and the substratum of all

for the attainment of my cherished desire.

What we had done till last time was the practices are sadhana, the practices for the attainment of Brahmagyan or the knowledge of Brahman, that knowledge which will enlighten us, set us free

from suffering and give us fulfillment, deep and lasting fulfillment.

So the practices we were told were three in number one is shavanah, the second one is mananam,

and third one is Nidhyasana.

Shavanam literally means hearing, but it actually means in detail. If you look at it closely,

what it means is systematically studying Vedantah, listening to these teachings being taught

by a competent teacher, studying it for oneself through the wide range of texts available,

and acquiring this knowledge. When we do this, we obviously have
