Summary

In the late 1970s, Mary Brown started a pioneering company to set up corporate childcare centers at the workplace. Work-life balance was a novel idea. Over 38 years, her company kept on innovating as Mary followed her love for people. In 1977, there were no hard data available to build a business case for on-site childcare. Occasionally advocates were tossed out of boardrooms—sometimes labelled socialists—but Mary and colleagues gradually convinced progressive employers the plan would be good for employee morale and business, building her own profitable business along the way.

0:45.0	A brief intro on Mary Brown in her words, 38 years ago, I started a company whose mission was to set up corporate child care centers at the workplace,

1:01.2	adding new services, but I followed my passion and love for helping people. It's been great fun,
1:07.9	and I've helped people along the way. So Mary, tell us what you're doing now
1:12.4	that keeps you fired up and engaged. Well, right now, as I'll go into, I sold my company.
1:22.5	Congratulations. Thank you. I'm still working for the new company and they are enabling me to develop new products and services.
1:33.3	So right now there's two services that I'm doing.
1:38.3	One is setting up a geriatric care network where employers will provide their employees with elder care services
1:47.0	to help them with their aging parents.
1:51.0	And the second one is care squad.com, a website that combines child care, elder care, teen and college expertise via the net.
