Small talk sucks, so let's dive in. Selina Mades. Selena Mays didn't grow up with much stability. When she was six years old, her parents,

CJ and Lynn, separated. And from what's been reported, that separation didn't exactly come out of nowhere.

Lynn's sister later shared publicly that CJ had physically assaulted Lynn multiple times. It got bad enough that Lynn ended up at a shelter

for abused women and their children. And that wasn't the only concern. According to the Trenton

Times, CJ already had a criminal record before

he ever met Lynn, including a conviction for armed robbery that actually landed him in prison.

After the separation, CJ wasn't much of a presence in Selena's life at all. He didn't visit
