Summary

Steve Sherk has spent the past few years gathering whitetail data in the deep woods of Northeast Pennsylvania. Sherk focused on daylight buck activity. In this video he discusses with the Exodus Crew his findings, including what he thinks is the most important factor when it comes to deer movement during the hunting season. His study considered temperature, moon phases, barometric pressure, and much more in relation to how it impacts deer hunting. Regardless of where you are hunting this year, there is something everyone can take away and use to improve your hunting strategy.

• Decoding mature buck movements

• Trail cam strategies unveiled

• October vs. November buck activity

• How weather patterns alter hunting

What is going on? Welcome back to the Exodus podcast. This is Jake Hofer, and this week we have a fun episode with Steve Shirk. And if you have been around the Exodus podcast for any time now, Steve should be a name that you should recognize because he has built a reputation of hunting Pennsylvania, public land, and also running a crazy amount of cameras, but not only running a crazy amount of cameras, keeping really good

0:38.1

data that he shares with everyone, which is really awesome. And so this episode is an encore to what

we had done when Steve went to the office and recorded with Cameron and Chad. And we have

0:49.4

2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, trail camera data on a blog that is linked below in the description

0:56.5

if you want to follow along in this conversation. And Steve's study here with 150 cameras

1:01.9

has been focused on daylight buck activity in conjunction of important factors like

1:08.6

weather and how they impact the mature buck movement.

And, you know, we posted the video version of this too.

1:16.0

If you'd rather watch it on YouTube on our YouTube channel.

1:18.7

And I've seen a couple comments of, you know, this isn't, this doesn't apply everywhere.

1:22.6

Or, you know, like there's some, some flaws in this study.

1:27.2

However, I live in Illinois and what he has laid out

1:30.9

is very similar to what I have seen year over year

1:35.0

with the fronts and deer activity.

1:37.8

And I have not been nearly as refined to Steve

1:39.8

when it comes to keeping documentation of that.

1:42.5

And I challenge everyone if someone has a better study of running

1:45.6

that many cameras and this much documentation, I would encourage you to reach out because we'd

1:50.4

love to have you on the podcast as well. But I just want to say thanks for Steve for doing this,

1:54.3

and I hope you guys enjoy this conversation. I also want to give a shout out to Onyx Hunt

1:59.0

because we're getting ready to film some additional White Till Cbs episodes and they are a big part of us continuing to do those cribs this fall.

2:07.6
