So often I'll have people ask, what's that song about?

What's the song about?

And for many of the songs, I don't really know what they're about.

I know the image I had in my mind when I started to write them.

And the image on this song was a group of people who downtrodden walking over the dirt roads and over hills and mountains towards Salt Lake.

That's all I had.

My dad heard it. My dad always has his own interpretations to my songs.

And he said, that's it. That's the more of a battalion you're talking about.

Well, whatever it's about, I know it's at the very center of the song.

It's a group of people who are on a journey together and they need each other to get to their destination.

Songs called, songs about the great divide.

That's when I saw him hauling away his own.

Saying something about the West.

And next thing you're falling and falling down again.

Laughing about the things I said.

And all this time, I'm humming songs about the great divide.
