Grateful to be with all of you once again in podcast form. I'll be it on a sad and what I also hope will

still be a celebratory occasion as this episode is dedicated to remembering Robert Redford,

the legendary actor, filmmaker, director, storyteller, champion of independent film, a

legend, Robert Redford, who passed away on September

16th at the age of 89. And of course, MCU fans know Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce in

Captain America, the Winter Soldier, as well as Avengers Endgame. But obviously, his career went well beyond his work in the MCU.

It was a treat for the MCU to land Robert Redford in Captain America, the Winter Soldier,

which I will, of course, talk about in this episode.

But in a day where words like legend and phrases like goat are

thrown around all the time, Robert Redford really is those things. Robert Redford really truly

is a legend among legends. A true, when you think about what goat stands for greatest of all

time, yes, he's in

that category with his incredible work, as I said, as an actor, as a director, and even the one,

being the one who was a champion of independent film for so much of his career, but that is

exemplified by him founding the Sundance Institute and then, of course, the Sundance Film Festival, which created space and allowed for new voices, independent voices in filmmaking.

And even the creation of the Sundance Film Festival, it became so popular that there wasn't enough

room for all of those independent voices at the Sundance Film Festival. So other festivals were

created, like the Slam Dance Film Festival, where the Russo Brothers premiered their first film,

and were discovered by and formed a relationship with Steven Soderberg. And of course, the Russo

Brothers career went on from there and were so successful the Russo brothers were that eventually they got

to cast Robert Redford in Captain America, the Winter Soldier, which really remains the
