Hello everyone and welcome to the History of England episode 355, the hearts of our people.

0:23.5

Before I start though, I am recording this on 7th of October which is but three weeks

0:28.2

from the end of the inaugural History of England podcast tour. Just very briefly, I want

0:33.7

thank everyone who came. The tour had been conceived four years ago, canceled twice,

0:39.0

and I was in a thorough going panic about it. Despite the chaos that ensued from Queen

1:45.1

English and the Scots. The English thought the Scots were taking their new way from them

1:49.1

and being rewarded with undue, lavish patronage. The Scots, meanwhile, resented and

1:55.8

disliked the formality of the English court and thought they did things much better back

2:00.0

home. They resented the superior attitude of the English towards them and worried about
