| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Daily Blade. The Word of God is described as the sword of the spirit, the primary spiritual weapon in the Christian's armor against the forces of evil. Your hosts are Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson, and they stand ready to equip men for the fight. Let's sharpen up. |
| 0:20.0 | So this is the Daily Blade. I'm Jay Reisner, lead pastor of faith Bible church, and I get to be with you this week as we study Luke 15. |
| 0:29.5 | Yesterday, we looked at the context of the three parables in Luke 15, that when Jesus welcomed tax collectors and sinners to his table, the religious leadership, they grumbled, |
| 0:39.5 | which is to say they hated it. They didn't have a category for it. So because of this, |
| 0:45.7 | Jesus tells them a few stories. Jesus starts with the story of a lost sheep. In verses 3 through 7, |
| 0:52.3 | Jesus points them to the picture of a shepherd who has 100 sheep, and this shepherd, upon realizing he has lost one of them, he leaves the 99 to go find the one. |
| 1:03.3 | Basically, what equates to 1% of his wealth is lost, and like a good shepherd, he goes out to find it. |
| 1:10.5 | As the story goes, the man finds the sheep, throws it across his back and carries it home. |
| 1:15.3 | And when he gets home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors saying, |
| 1:19.1 | Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which is lost. |
| 1:23.6 | Happy ending. Great story. |
| 1:26.4 | What does it mean? |

It tells us that we are naturally lost. Now, the sheep metaphor is used throughout scripture. God's people are often referred to as sheep. But let me tell you, the sheep metaphor is used for one primary reason because sheep are |
| 1:50.5 | stupid animals. |
| 1:51.8 | They will naturally wander off. |
| 1:54.2 | They will follow whoever or wherever the green grass takes them. |
| 1:59.8 | They will just keep grazing and eating and obliviously |
| 2:03.2 | end up in danger because they are natural wanderers. They get lost naturally. So it is with |
| 2:10.9 | the heart of man. We are born sinners. We are prone to wander. |
| 2:19.4 | Isaiah 53-6 says it, |
| 2:21.9 | we all like sheep have gone astray. |
| 2:24.0 | Each of us turned to his own way. |
