Summary

In this episode, I break down effort versus inevitability using Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan as examples. This is not about basketball, it’s about two very different performance energies. Effort is when you try hard and push to make things happen. Inevitability is when you know the result is coming, even if you can’t explain how. I explain why both can create greatness, but why inevitability is the higher level to operate from. Show Notes: [32:18]#1 Effort is loud, inevitability is quiet. [11:49]#2 Effort tries to win where inevitability expects to win. [22:03]#3 Effort is fueled by will.  [25:58] Recap Next Steps: --- Power Presence is not taught. It is enforced. If you are operating in environments where hesitation costs money, authority, or leverage, the Power Presence Mastermind exists as a controlled setting for discipline, execution, and consequence-based decision-making. Details live here: http://PowerPresenceProtocol.com/Mastermind  This Masterclass is the public record of standards. Private enforcement happens elsewhere. description. When something is inevitable, people stop fighting against it and they just accept that

is going to happen. When something is effortful, people continue to fight against it because they feel like they have a chance

that they just fight hard enough they could possibly win.

Today's topic is effort versus inevitability. Kobe Bryant versus Michael Jordan. That's what we're going to do here in today's episode. And this episode is not about basketball. It's not about playing basketball, shooting jump shots, or making slam dunks. But because everybody knows who Kobe Bryant is and everyone knows who Michael Jordan is, even if you're not a basketball fan, you know who these guys are. I'm going to use these two guys as a canvas for explaining the difference between these two energies that you may think are one and the same, but they absolutely are not. I'm going to explain the difference between the two. And I'm going to tell you which one is superior to the other. You may already be reading between the lines as to what that is. If you listen to the show regularly, you should already know the answer as to what this is. And if you're a basketball fan, you damn well better know the answer as to which one of these is superior. But I'm going to explain all that here today, even if you are

1:32.5

completely ignorant and have no idea what I'm talking about. Let's get right to it. Again, this is

1:36.8

effort versus inevitable. Kobe Bryant versus Michael Jordan. I'm going to use these two guys to illustrate

1:41.8

my point. There are two dominant performance energies at the highest levels of performance.

1:46.8

And you know I always talk about life being a performance-based business.

1:49.8

You are just based on your performance and the results of said performances.

1:53.6

Those two levels are effort and inevitability.

1:57.8

What are those two things mean?

1:58.9

Effort is when you are putting forth, you're using energy to do work in a mechanical sense, and you try hard and you make things happen. Working, working on your game, for example. That's effort. Inevitability, on the other hand, is when something feels as if you know it's going to happen. You don't know exactly how. You may not

2:19.2

be able to explain the mechanics of it. You may not be able to point out the exact moment when it occurred,

2:24.1

but inevitability is much more of an energy and a feeling, whereas effort is more of a performance.

2:29.1

It's something that you do. Inevitability is something that you feel. And you know the outcome is going to be the

2:34.0

outcome, even though, again, you may not be able to pinpoint exactly when it happened, exactly when it inevitability is something that you feel and you know the outcome is going to be the outcome

2:34.3

even though again you may not be able to pinpoint exactly when it happened exactly when the

2:38.3

tide turn but you know it's going to occur and then it occurs that's inevitability both of these
