I'm trying out some new voices.

And this week, we are talking about the favorite hopping vampire series.

Also, the one that actually started the entire trend or the way that it's presented in media today, Mr. Vampire.

That's right.

Every year on Shocktober on the podcast, we like to talk about at least one horror franchise. We've burned through a lot of the ones that you know and love, your nightmares, your Fridays, your Texas chainsaws. So it's time to travel. What about me? The lepricon! We'll get to the leprechaun one day. We are going to, again, every movie will be covered on this podcast at some point.

But right now, we're traveling overseas.

And I'd like to define our terms to begin with. You know, you hear a Chinese hopping vampire and you think,

a Jiangxi.

Yeah, it's not really a vampire.

Jiangxies are reanimated corpses. They're really more like zombies.

They are dead, unthinking creatures who crave human blood, but are not seductive about it like Dracula is.

But if you throw the original Chinese title into Google Translate, it pops out, Mr. Zombie comes out.

In Taiwan, it actually had a different title.

And we'll talk about, especially the first one, that it was super popular in Taiwan and

Japan, which is kind of made the franchise.

The title was, hold your breath for a moment, which is something that happens in the first movie

to kind of get around these hopping vampires. And it's something, and we'll probably

mention this a lot, that they created just for these movies. And I've been folded into just

what we think of as hopping vampires. Now, because we're talking about something that is so culturally specific, we need to put the caveat,
