The medieval chronicler Adam of Bremen was riding at around this point in history.

And among the many things he tells us, he also includes how Canute planned his almost

empire.

And Adam tells us that Canute intended swain to rule Norway, hearth the Canute to rule

Denmark, and herald hairfoot to rule England.

And that might be true.

And if it was, Canute got his wish.

At the time of his death, hearth the Canute was the king of Denmark.

Swain had been the king of Norway, at least for a time.

And just after Canute died, herald hairfoot became the king of England.

But there is a problem.
