We got a very special show today.

Something that's been on my mind a lot lately.

And it's these platitudes we use to discuss politics in America.

One of the bigger ones that you've been hearing over, I don't know, the last three or four years, maybe 10 is this phrase a threat to democracy.

Mostly because of Trump, obviously.

I don't, I sincerely don't understand the mechanics behind it.

I mean, certainly he's a populist, but we've had

plenty of those before. What differentiates him from the other populace, you'll have to explain to me.

I mean, the power of the executive has grown exponentially in the past few presidential cycles.

It's certainly not unique to Trump.

Some people call it derangement syndrome, but either way, we're not a democracy.

So it's a meaningless phrase in a lot of ways. What they should say is a threat to

the republic. But I don't think these people in Congress or the media understand our constitution or

system governed enough to really make any kind of legitimate educated effort here. So let's talk about a little bit

We'll get into it. We're going into how we're a constitutional Republican not a democracy and how democracy is a function of representative government and not its

basis So let's get in.

Pretty much everything now is described as a threat to democracy,

including actual election results, which is interesting,

but also court rulings, protests,

speech, policy disagreements, procedural delays, legal challenges, even the act of asking
