We are on the island of Martinique, a region of France, located in the Southern Caribbean. Martinique is just getting back into the cruise business after a few years on the decline. The port will see 22 inaugural ship calls this years, including Anthem of the Seas and Carnival Sunshine.
We sit down with Roger Blum, a cruise consultant for the Tourism Department of Martinique to get a report card on the island.

Their cruise industry was struggling for a little while, but it's back on the upswing now. I had a chance to talk to some people down there, so we'll catch that interview in just a few minutes. But first, Stuart, Siara on the cruise guy. What's up, Stuart? Hey, Doug, how's going? Good. So a lot of ships back in the States now. Everyone coming over from Europe, of course, Norwegian Escape in Miami year round. brand new-new ship there, brand-new ship, kind of, Anthem of the Seas in Bayonne, now sailing year-round for the New York City area. |

1:05.0 | And then Norwegian Cruise Line, back in Port Canaveral for what, the first time in three years? |

1:11.1 | They're going to bring this weekend they're going to bring in Norwegian spirit, which is their smallest and oldest ship. |
1:18.0 | But the good news for Port Canaveral is that next year it will be replaced by Norwegian Epic, which was supposed to be around in Europe. |

1:52.8 | So they had to do a lot of ship shuffling in the earlier years. |
1:58.7 | But it'll be a good ship for the market. Yeah. Would that be doing, what, long cruises or short cruises? They'll be doing seven-night Eastern and Western out of Port Canaveral competing with Disney, Carnival, and Royal Caribbean. All right, very nice. Holland America's new ship, the Konings Dom, coming out next spring, and they have a series of videos out, kind of debuting the ship. |
