Today's topic is near and dear to my heart as someone who surveys the political realignment

0:13.6

of America. We're talking about market fundamentalism. The belief that markets can solve all problems

0:21.7

and that government is not only ineffective but actively harmful in a bunch of different

0:26.4

categories. If we're looking at the realignment of the American rights since 2016, this debate

0:31.9

over market fundamentalism is at the core of everything. We're seeing that in the debates

0:36.3

over China policy, over entitlement programs and reforms like Social Security, and we're

0:42.6

0:48.2

the right, especially in the Senate, into a debate over whether or not we should give

0:51.6

more responsibility to the government when it comes to regulation, or if the companies

0:56.3

are fine in the status quo. Socrates and great reporting on this on breaking points,

I'll provide a link in the show notes to that yesterday looking at how new rights

senators are looking at that issue through a study different lens. My guests today,

1:08.3

Naomi Arresquez and Eric Conway are deeply interested in this myth of how markets could

1:13.3

solve everything. So it's interesting conversation on those lines. We can see this operating in

1:17.8

a bunch of different ways. I'll be really interested in having this conversation with

1:20.8

a guest on the right as well too. I hope you all enjoy this conversation and we'll

1:24.5

remind you that since it's Friday, we've got a subset coming out and next week there

1:28.1

will be a super cast with Q&A, so definitely be sure to contribute to those as well too.

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.
