| 0:00.0 | What's going on, guys? Welcome back to the Jeremy Scott Fender's podcast and radio show. Coming to you on a Tuesday evening here, about 6.30. Just got done walking my dog in a nice cool 99 degrees here in Scottsdale. I say that because in August, when it's under 100, it is relatively cool. It's not terrible. Definitely beats 115. So for you guys who are different parts of the country, if you come to |
| 0:21.4 | Scottsdale and it's under 100, you're probably cool. If it's 90 degrees, man, really, really tough |
| 0:27.6 | place to beat in terms of weather and atmosphere and everything else. So if my dog starts barking, |
| 0:33.1 | I apologize. Usually I'm in my, my office in the building we work in, but I'm in my home office tonight just because of scheduling stuff for this evening and tomorrow. So, but I have to get this out. It is time sensitive. And this podcast is pretty simple. It's called 35 years and 35 life lessons. And I think I started this just over 10 years ago, give or take. If you go back on the Jeremy Scott Finish blog, you can find probably the original one. And basically just add a life lesson every single year as I age. I know a lot of people kind of duck from their age. Like, oh, I'm getting older and they're sad and depressed about it. And my wife will do the same thing. She's like, oh, I'm looking older and this and this. and she's still beautiful and she's still amazing. And I think she sounds like a crazy person because she's the oldest she's ever been |
| 0:55.0 | and she's still amazing. And I think she sounds like a crazy person because she's the |
| 1:13.5 | oldest she's ever been in. She's in the best shape that she's ever been in. And I feel the same way. I'll be 35 years old tomorrow. And I don't shy away from it. I've done a lot of really epic, cool shit in my life, especially the last 10 years. I don't know how I would have able, you know, |
| 1:12.2 | been able to do it all if I was younger. epic cool shit in my life especially the last 10 years i don't know how i would have able you know been |
| 1:29.7 | able to do it all if i was younger for that matter and in our reality i wasn't that awesome uh when i was |
| 1:35.8 | in my early 20s and teens it took me fucking up and doing a lot of stupid dumb shit to learn from it |
| 1:41.3 | and uh you know i'm very proud of the person that i am today and the person that I've become and the way I live my life and the way I approach things and the way I do everything. And that comes with age and maturity. And it comes from learning from your mistakes and surrounding yourself with awesome people. And so I'm grateful for this. And I think, you know, you guys who are younger than me, maybe just starting out in fitness or you've been in your business the last couple years and it's tough for this. And I think, you know, you guys who are listening to who are younger than me, maybe just starting out in fitness or you've been in your business the last couple of years, and it's tough for you. What I'll say is you'll be surprised how young you feel, the older you get. I think technology has drastically aged us down for sure. I think you guys who are 30 years old or 28 years old, you're a lot younger at 28 and 30 than your parents were most definitely, just because of the way the world is and how we're living it. So God willing and everything goes right, you know, cross my fingers, you know, knock on wood, I get to live a really long epic life in 35 years old. Hopefully is, you know, not that big of a peace of it. But if it is, and, you know, tomorrow is the last day I have here. It's been pretty |
| 2:18.2 | fucking awesome. And I'm... hopefully is, you know, not that big of a piece of it. But if it is, and, you know, tomorrow is the last day I have here. |
| 2:36.6 | It's been pretty fucking awesome. |
| 2:38.1 | And I'm, I have a lot of shit I still want to do, but I'm pretty, you know, proud and happy of all the things I've accomplished and done and all the cool people I've got to meet in places I've got to go and see. So with that said, over the last few years, you guys, I've written a blog on my birthday, |
| 2:35.7 | dropping what I like to call, you know, a blog on my |
| 2:51.7 | birthday dropping what I like to call, you know, some real life knowledge bombs. I think, you know, can help you guys live a more meaningful life or if nothing else you can learn from some of my past dipship mistakes that I've made along the way. And hopefully you can take, you know, something positive with you. And like every year, you know, to say that 2018 didn't go 100% exactly his plan would be an understatement. |
| 2:52.5 | Some of it went much, much better than I thought it would. And some of it went, you know, a whole hell of a lot worse. And I guess that's, you know, what life is. It's about taking your problems head on and, you know, and kicking them in the fucking teeth and just beating the shit out of them and turning them into, you know, positives and making them, you know, help you become a better version of who you are afterwards. You know, so every year, I'm on August 13th, which is today, I always scroll through, you know, now in the world we live in, we have like all the shutterfly books of our trips and stuff, but nowadays it's more so I scroll through all the social media content I have from Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram especially, even YouTube and a lot of the stuff that I've written. |
| 3:50.2 | And I get to see all the cool places I've been and the people I've met in the past 364 days. |
| 3:55.1 | And it still amazes me how badass my life really is. I mean, I truly say this, you guys, with all sincerity. I'm blessed to do what I do. And that doesn't even really scratch the surface or do it justice of how thankful I am every day that I wake up and I get to live this life. Because when there was a point in time where I thought, you know, there wasn't much left for me after college. and I really didn't have any direction or nowhere I was going. And I didn't think a life like this was possible for me. So for me to finally be able to, you know, live my life on my own terms, be the master of my own day and do what I want, when I want and how I want, all while giving back to other people. To me, that's the pinnacle of success. That's why I feel like, you know, I'm living the dream in all reality, as cliche as that might sound. So, but every year when I scroll through everything and I look at it and I see it and the amount of the work and effort it takes to do it. And I don't know any other way. I don't look at my life. I don't see it as any other option. |
| 4:47.7 | People are like, how do you wake up so early? |
| 4:49.4 | How do you get all this stuff done? |
| 4:47.6 | I really feel like, and for some reason, I've convinced my brain anything like this is what's mandatory. This is what just has to happen in order for me to not just be successful in terms of how I define success, but in order for me to actually give back to other people and share my gift to the world. |
| 5:55.2 | So I started thinking about all the mistakes I've made and the lessons I've learned over the past 35 years. And I guess it makes me want to share with you guys all of it. And maybe it can help you through some obstacle or tough time or just let you see the world, you know, through a different set of eyes for a minute. In all reality, you know, my eyes in the way I view. And I know my brain is, you know, perfectly fucked up for me, but I think some of that can hopefully translate to you guys and help you, you know, keep crushing it. So without further delay, uh, 35 years, 35 live lessons. I'll just go on the list. I'll go as quick as I can to hopefully not waste your guys this time. And hopefully you can jot down one of these two gems. If you like anything that I say are here and it resonates with you, you know, post on Instagram on Facebook, tag me in it, share it with a friend, share it with somebody else, message me, just let me know and hopefully, you know, take it with you on this journey of yours so number one i don't believe in luck i believe in opportunity and how well you're prepared for those opportunities |
