0:57.8	capture the tenor of that season. Advent is upon us and Advent is usually viewed as
1:06.8	pre- Christmas. It has a penitential kind of a notion to it. It also heralds the end of the church here in a lot of ways.
1:16.3	But there's a feature of Advent that I think we sometimes miss,
1:20.4	unless we are singing a hymn like hark a thrilling voice is sounding
1:24.4	advent comes upon the original advent that is Christ's coming into the world in human
1:31.1	flesh in a very surprising, shocking, perhaps even a fearful way.
1:38.5	The message of John the Baptist set men's hearts out of balance. They were fearful for the judgment that was coming upon them.
1:47.2	John the Baptist was warning them of dire consequences for their sins.
1:55.6	And maybe we've lost some of that in the season of Advent and maybe we can regain some of that as we study the hymn Hark a
