Summary
Welcome back to another episode of Beauty Bytes with Dr. Kay: Secrets of a Plastic Surgeon! Today, I am talking all about lip filler migration. Lip filler migration has become a huge concern in more recent years among patients and injectors. Lips have been over-filled time and time again to fit unrealistic beauty standards, and now the negative side effects are more apparent than ever. If you have a question or something you'd like covered on the podcast, send me a DM or email info@beautybydrkay.com and I'd be happy to respond!

| 0:00.0 | Well, hello, hello, guys. You're listening to Beauty Bites with Dr. K., Secrets of a Plastic Surgeon. |
| 0:20.3 | Today I'm going to talk to you all about |
| 0:22.1 | lip filler migration. This is a trending and really popular topic of concern amongst patients |
| 0:30.5 | and injectors. And I think we're seeing a trend to lip filler migration because we have been |
| 0:37.4 | injecting lips year upon year, month upon |
| 0:40.7 | month, syringe upon syringe until finally that fun trend of looking sexy, voluptuous, |
| 0:47.1 | and more confident is a little bit too much. |
| 0:51.1 | It's possible that we've been sold a bill of goods where the filler companies |
| 0:55.2 | have told us that the filler lasts only a year and goes away. And in reality, what we're finding |
| 1:01.2 | is that the filler can last somewhat longer than that. Everybody's metabolism, of course, is different. |
| 1:07.2 | Everybody's lip anatomy is different, but the lip is essentially a tubular structure. |
| 1:12.2 | So when we fill up the tube all the way, you know, just like putting water in a water balloon, |
| 1:17.4 | there's a limitation to how much that encasement or tube or lip anatomy can hold, |
| 1:22.9 | and eventually filler can seep out, just like water building up pressure in a garden hose will eventually spring |
| 1:28.7 | some small leaks and leak out into the periphery so if you have a friend or if you're a person who |
| 1:34.7 | has somewhat of a filler mustache or appearance of filler extending outside the border of the lips |
| 1:40.7 | giving a thickness or projection or a ducky appearance to the upper lip. |
| 1:44.9 | I've even seen it in the lower lip. |
| 1:47.0 | Fear not, you can fix this problem. |
| 1:49.7 | And we together as injectors can also fix this problem by just having attention to detail. |
| 1:56.5 | Filler migration in the lips happens when the injection techniques are not followed precisely, |
| 2:02.0 | and the vermilion or pink border of the lip is violated. |
