πŸ“œ TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: Luke 1:26-38

26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed[b] to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”[c] 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”[d]

35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born[e] will be called holy—the Son of God. 36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.”38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant[f] of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

This is the morning mindset and I name it the morning mindset because my intention is for us to understand

0:17.2

That every morning we need to hit reset on the way that we're thinking about the day because God's ways are not our ways.

0:25.7

We tend to wake up in a default human way of thinking.

0:29.4

And every morning we need to do the work needed, however short or long that takes, to get our minds reoriented

0:35.3

with the way that God thinks about the world that we live in.

0:38.8

In today's episode of the morning mindset is particularly fitting to that concept because we've been looking at the

0:46.4

Christmas story and we've been considering the things that happened in that story

0:51.5

and how it affected the people in the account.

0:55.0

And particularly we were looking at Mary's story yesterday and how God did not

1:01.0

seem to care about the human perspective that people would have about this situation.

1:08.0

I mean think about it for a moment.

1:10.0

Mary is an unwwed young mother, pregnant.

1:14.4

She's going to be getting larger every day

1:17.2

in terms of showing her pregnancy.

1:20.4

And yet she was unmarried at the time

1:22.4

it became apparent she was unmarried at the time it became a parent she was pregnant

1:25.0

and the stigma that would come with that the disdain that would happen in her

1:30.0

culture. People would look down on her. For his entire life, people would look down on Jesus because of that.

1:36.4

We see one account in the Gospels where the Pharisees make this implication that he is a bastard child.

1:45.0

And so all of that are the kind of things that would happen in our lives

1:50.0

and we would care deeply about people thinking wrongly about us in that kind of a
