For a whole lot of people, 2020 was a really tough year.

A lot of good folks lost their job.

Some lost their minds, too, I guess, and we all had trouble getting our hands on the stuff we needed.

Well, the same was true for a lot of bad people, too, myself included.

As a functioning opioid addict at the time of the pandemic, supply chain issues and general

anxiety made it much harder than usual to get a clean fix. It also made it way harder for me

to make money since the restaurant I worked at was closed for weeks at a time.

My stimulus checked didn't last long and then after a few weeks of burning through my emergency

fund, I was starting to get a little worried.

Not only that, but the number of dealers going temporarily offline for the lockdowns

was getting higher and higher, which in turn drove up the price of everything.

I needed a money-making scheme and fast, so I tried all kinds of things, including setting up

a dot-union domain. Now, a dot-union domain is basically a website on the dark web.

Now, I can hear all you nerds howling actually already,

but that's basically what it is. And to be honest, it was a little more than a joke to start with.

Now, I wanted to learn how to set up a tour site anyway, so what I uploaded ended up just being

somewhere between a joke and a Hail Mary. And I worked pretty hard on it, and when it went

live, I felt pretty damned proud of it. And then plastered at the top of the page was the

site's title and concept, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, or 5D for short. Now, it was a reference to
