0:34.5	all currently inhabit, this has become incredibly relevant. So I met Derek a couple of days ago,
0:39.8	although I've been retweeting a lot of what he's been putting out on Twitter for quite a while,
0:44.5	and I wanted to talk to him today so that everybody watching and listening can be brought up today
0:52.4	about what's going on on the financial front in relationship to states and their investment strategies.
1:00.6	So Derek, let's start with a little bit about your background and about your situation,
1:05.6	your position right now, and then we'll talk in some detail about exactly what it is that you're
1:10.3	doing with the other state financial officers. So, um, who are you?
1:15.5	Uh, well, thank you for the opportunity to be here. First of all, it's an honor to, to get to
1:22.5	talk to you and had an opportunity to see your, your show and just a inspiring to see the young
1:30.0	generation respond to truth and courage the way that you've demonstrated it. So thank you.
1:36.4	I, uh, I'm just a guy from Kansas, from a small town in Kansas. I served as the deputy
1:43.1	treasurer of Kansas for six years. Uh, during that time, I worked with a group of state treasurers,
1:50.4	and we realized that there was a need for an opportunity to come together to talk about some of
1:57.2	the state financial issues, public finance issues, both at the federal and state level from an
2:03.2	unapologetically free market perspective. Um, and, and so there were other treasurers organizations
2:10.4	operating, but none of them really were excited to talk about it from that free market perspective
2:15.4	like we were. Um, so, uh, myself and eight other state treasurers co-founded the state financial
2:21.8	officers foundation, uh, 11 years ago. And together, we've just been raising awareness and, and
2:29.8	educating the public and these, uh, officials as they get elected, um, on issues of public finance,
