Hello and welcome to Battleground with me Patrick Bishop and Saul David.

Well, a funny old week it's been in Ukraine. The cliffhanger that is the battle for

Pukrovsk continues. So despite Russian claims that it's all over by the shouting, the evidence

at the time we're speaking is that the city has not yet fallen. It's also been a funny

old week in Poland for the news that the railway line funneling

aid from Poland to Ukraine has been the target of a major sabotage operation mounted by

guess who. What's that all about? And is it possible that Russia is getting increasingly reckless

in the hybrid warfare campaign? It's running in parallel with the conflict in Ukraine.

On top of that, we've got a steady flow of reports that Washington and Moscow have been working

out of sight to produce a joint detail plan to end the war. Details are very sparse, but it seems

it would involve Ukraine-seeding land, some weaponry,

and also limiting the size of its military. It doesn't sound like a runner to me, but intriguing

nonetheless. And in order to remind us of what is at stake here, we'll also later on be

talking to film director Benjamin Goldhagen, who's acclaimed documentary

The Steel Porcupine, puts the conflict into context, exposing just what Russia has been doing

and is doing in Ukraine, as well as celebrating the Ukrainian people's spirit to resist and prevail.

But let's start with Percrossk,ol, even if it does fall, it can hardly

be presented as a resounding victory, can it? Though that, of course, is what Putin will try and do,

at least to his own people. Yeah, and not just to his own people, Patrick. I mean, the concern,

you mentioned this peace plan. We'll talk a little bit more about that in a moment,

some of the details that are coming out. It's absolutely a non-starter, as you say. But the reason
