This is episode 344 and our guest is Charlie from Howell for Wildlife.

Going back to January or February of 2022, I started seeing stuff pop up on social media

and online from Howell for Wildlife.

And before that time, I had never heard of them.

I had no idea who they are, really what they did, who was behind them, etc.

And it felt at least to me and my limited perspective that they somewhat popped up overnight

as a voice of advocacy for hunters.

And in particular, at the time, they were voicing support for hunters' rights and certain

issues related at that time, particularly with bear hunting in states like California

and Washington.

Something that we've talked about in the podcast, which was Washington Spring Bear season,

which has unfortunately been canceled for this year.

But Howell was active in that discussion and engaging hunters to voice their opinions.

And I've remained curious in the months since then about Howell for Wildlife and again,

who they were, what they were up to, what their goals were, etc.

And so I sent out that feeling.

I wanted to get the backstory on who was behind Howell for Wildlife, what role they felt

they were playing for hunters, what they saw as current issues, the future of hunting

and conservation, and much more.
