So at the weekend, Germany's elections delivered a bloodbath for all of the governing parties.

The Social Democrats, Olaf Schultz's SPD, scored their worst results since 1887.

The Liberal FDP, also in the coalition until last year, are out of Parliament.

The Greens, their leader Robert Harbeck, has resigned after coming a humiliating fourth.

Tom, the Conservatives came on top, but even they actually scored a pretty hollow victory.

The real story here is that everyone's talking about is the rise of the AFT, the alternative for Germany.

No, absolutely. I mean, they got a record-breaking result for them, almost 21% of the votes.
