Today we address our nagging questions about the book of Joshua and its stories of mass,

slaughter, and genocide.

Sounds like fun.

Yeah. Real uplifting story.

You know, I've titled this podcast and the hardest story in the Bible for me.

And I wish I could skip this one.

Probably the book of the Bible, not probably.

I think the book of the Bible I struggle with the most.

And all the scripture is the book of Joshua.

Just the story of going and killing women and children and cattle and livestock.

It's hard for me to process that in light of everything else that we've been reading.

Now, at the same time, I don't want to undo everything that we've been studying and reading

just because of one story.

I mean, we've run into story after story, after story, after story of God's love, his acceptance,

his forgiveness.

I mean, I have seen a God that is a thousand to three, as he told Moses in the book of Exodus,

a thousand to three love and justice, a thousand generations to those that love me,

to the third generation of those who hate me.

Like that ratio has stood the test of our study of Torah.

And I'm not going to up in that just because of one instance that I have a hard time wrestling

with.
