Last month we talked about how to master our cell phones in a three-part series titled Life and Tech.

So this month I'm going to dive into the idea of email etiquette.

As we all know, this is typically the preferred method in our

professional worlds and often with our friends and family. So I'm going to share

15 specific rules or ideas because everyone's going to maybe tweak it or hone it to fit their lifestyle

and their jobs best that help us to communicate better because ultimately that's

what it's all about how to communicate better with those we work with, care for, and love.

But let's start off with a quote by Sydney Harris. She says,

the two words information and communication are often used interchangeably, but they signify quite

different things. Information is giving out. Communication is getting through.

As someone who is thankful for the ability

that email provides, it gives me obviously time

to think about what I have to say. I can say it thoughtfully, and in my own time.

There are also many frustrations that come along with this method of communication,

such as did they receive the email or did it get lost in the junk folder?

Was my tone interpreted correctly or did I offend them?

And why haven't they responded?

Will they respond?
