The podcast where we talk about reality TV and we get a little bit culty. If you've

been a listener to the podcast from the beginning you know that my story has a lot to do with

cults. My own family escaped the co-boot cult when I was just a child and I've grown up

fascinated by cults by cult leaders and really the profound effect that a cult mentality

can have on its members, even or especially after they leave. Like my family did. A cult

that's been making the headlines recently is Nexium. That's NXIVM but pronounced like

it has a U. It's led by a man named Keith Reiner. Keith was arrested by the FBI last

month on charges of human and sex trafficking and is currently awaiting trial and sentencing

in New York State. Also, actress Alison Mack has been in headlines, Alison Mack of Smallville.

She's been in the news for her arrest on sex trafficking crimes associated with Nexium.

She's unhals arrest in her parents' home and is also awaiting trial. This has been big

news and is getting bigger every day. The DOS division of Nexium, which stands for

dominant over submissive, is the organizational offshoot of the cult that's been garnering

most of our attention. Mostly because of its role in recruiting women, some allegedly

underage to use as sex slaves. Yes, sex slaves. The branding of Keith's initials into

these women's hips has also come to light. A barbaric practice that is just now being

uncovered. We've seen pictures of it in different interviews and it is shocking. But this

really isn't the full picture of what Nexium is. Keith Reiner has built a much larger

and much more sinister organization than just DOS. His reach expands to businesses that

include things like self-improvement, women's empowerment, men's leadership, and even health

food subsidiaries. It really goes deep. And much of what Nexium is hasn't even been explored
