I'm Erin Scala and here's our show today. Oh, You'll find California's Wild Horse AVA in the lower right-hand corner of Napa Valley,

the AVA straddles to Napa and Salano counties.

Here you'll find primarily well-drained rocky volcanic soil and the east side of Wild Horse

Valley is warmer than the west side, which is cooled by winds funneled over from the

The valley sits mostly above the fog line, which translates to more sunshine hours for this region than many other surrounding avaes.

The cooling winds, especially on the west side, plus the sunshine, mean that grapes can ripen uniquely

There's enough sunshine to get phenolic ripeness and enough winds to maintain high levels of

acidity. The Ai-a-vay was officially established in 1988, making it

If we follow the paths of some pre- prohibition vitners, we discovered that the Wild Horse AVA,

Early settler Joseph Vorb planted 50 acres of grapes in 1881 to make wine.

Vorb was a Frenchman and he came from right near the Jura region.
