Guys, welcome to the Jay Scott Outdoors Podcast. I have got a question here from Tony

0:08.0

Long. He says, Jay, I enjoy your podcast. Thanks for doing it. I've been listening to a lot of the Coosdere

0:14.2

episodes. I have a question. My wife has a late 21 December Coosdere tag and I'm

0:21.1

trying to figure out the best way to prepare for that hunt.

0:26.0

And Tony what I would tell you like I would tell anybody else that has a late December Coosier tag, the question you ask is how the best way to prepare

0:38.9

for that.

0:39.9

And I don't quite know if you mean gear or if you mean how to scout and how to prepare for that as

0:47.0

as far as looking for areas to hunt. But in general what I would tell you guys out there and I'm just driving down the road here.

0:58.0

So, but what I would tell you guys is, so you've got a Cooster hunt, it's a December tag.

1:06.5

I'm assuming that Tony is talking about a December tag that in essence starts kind of that mid-December time frame and goes all the way to

1:19.6

through the month of December.

1:21.6

So what you have to look at first and foremost is how much time do you have to hunt and how much time you know do you have to devote you know,

1:32.0

do you have to devote, you know, say before Christmas, before, you know, after Christmas and so on, you know, you may have, you know, family time between Christmas and New Year, so you already know that that's out or you know what have you.

1:49.0

So first and foremost I would say which time frames do you have to hunt or are you hunting in

1:55.4

units that are fairly close to your house where you can you know come and go quite a

2:00.0

bit once you've established your timeline, well let's back up in analyzing those

2:08.1

December hunts. Obviously you hear about them being called the December rut hunt

2:13.4

when in reality, maybe the last five days

2:18.7

and maybe in some of the northern units,

2:22.0

you know, like the six A's the 23s, 22s, 21s, you know, those

2:28.1

units. Maybe you're going to see a little bit more running activity or maybe like a 27 up say in the higher elevation country.

2:38.0

You know that's been a theory for years that that a bunch of us have argued and discussed and what have you about.
