Lakeside School is a small, incredibly selective fifth grade through 12th grade institution in Seattle.

It's the kind of place where kids graduate and go on to Ivy League schools,

and their classmates are offspring of rich tech moguls like Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates.

Christian and homeschooled until the sixth grade, in 2015 Milo Youngblood was one of these students, intelligent and interested

in the world. They enrolled at Lakeside and immediately fit in, joining choir, coding club,

and the Quiz Bowl team. By ninth grade, Youngblood came out as

non-binary, announcing a new name drawn from their favorite book, The Phantom Tollbooth.

Unbeknownst to Milo Youngblood at the time, two grades above them was Maximilian Snyder.
