Summary

This week Roger Moorhouse and Saul David analyse a week of potential shifts in the conflict. On the frontline: Ukrainian civilians evacuate Kupiansk as security deteriorates; a UN humanitarian convoy is deliberately attacked in Kherson; and a strike hits a Kharkiv hospital. Ukraine continues hitting back, targeting the Feodosia oil terminal in Crimea amidst a potential chemical threat from a ruptured ammonia pipeline. In the diplomatic sphere, Donald Trump rattles the Kremlin by suggesting he might send Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, prompting intense Russian warnings. Meanwhile, signs of Putin's diplomatic discomfort appear as he is forced to apologize to Azerbaijan, and early whispers of internal dissent surface in Russia's major cities. spheres. But before we go into that, let's take a look as ever at events on the ground this week.

to leave the area, citing the worsening security situation. As Arno told us last week,

1:25.6

drone attacks were already an almost daily occurrence,

1:28.5

but the prospect of direct artillery fire might well have been the final straw.

1:33.1

In Hirsson, meanwhile, far to the south-west, a UN convoy carrying humanitarian aid from the World Food Programme,

was targeted by Russian FPV drones near the town of Biloserka.

1:44.3

A spokesman for the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, OCHA,

1:50.1

described the attack as utterly unacceptable,

1:53.1

and added that prior to the drone attack,

1:55.4

the convoy had already come under artillery attack

while it was delivering its aid to a settlement which had not seen outside
