In today's podcast, I want to talk a little bit about letting time pass. For those of you who have been following us for a little while, you know I talk a lot about Claire Weeks and her work and she was the first one to introduce this term of letting time pass.

The first place I heard it was from her work which I unfortunately never found until well after I had cleared my anxiety.

I would have loved to have been able to have had my hands on her books when I was going through my own journey with anxiety, but that wasn't the case.

But her work is amazing and I will have a link to her book, Hope and Help for Your Nerves, which I think is the best one to start

And I love the letting time pass piece because we don't pay enough attention to it. We live in a very instant society.

Our culture right now is very much, I find find myself like if my computer is taking too long to

load a page or something it's like wait a minute it's like I remember life

before the internet it's like a cranky because a page won't load fast enough but that's where we have gotten to.

And it's really important that we take some time to really look at that and feel how that feels because all those little stresses

add up those are the things I call them the little straws on the camel's back

it isn't usually a big thing that throws people over the edge.

It's just one more straw. It's the straw that breaks the camels back. So we want to pay attention and one of the ways that when we are healing and coming out of our anxiety panic and really starting to feel,

wow, I can breathe a little differently now. I am not, I have had a whole day where I didn't go into

ruminating thoughts or really feeling that not in my belly.

Like you'll start to notice that more time has gone by

in between your onset of your sensations or your symptoms and then you start to think.

So that feels good for about a minute.
