There were two more murders, 15 miles away in the silver-race of the electricity line.

Others are simple and matter-of-fact. On March 30th, 1996, a man was executed for

his crimes, crimes that took the lives of three innocent people. So, if you like your coffee hot,

but your bones chilled, sit back and search your day with a morning cup of murder.

On August 2nd, 1984, out of the blue, a man named Richard Allen Moran, entered the red pear saloon in Carson City, Nevada, walked over to the bartender, and leveled his gun.

He shot Sandra DeVare, 24, 24 behind the bar and an off-duty

cook 27-year-old Russell Rhodes before taking whatever cash was in the register and a purse.

As he left, he set fire to the building to cover his tracks. Just nine days later, this same man

shot his ex-wife, Laura Van Van Vute and then slit his wrist.

Miraculously, the man survived and called the police from his bedside on August 13th and confessed to his crimes.

Richard Moran was charged with two counts of murder with the use of a deadly weapon for his attack on the saloon,

as well as two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon and first-degree arson.

Then in a separate case, he was charged with one count of murder with the use of a deadly weapon

for the attack on Laura.

Despite his hospital confession, Richard initially pled not guilty to the crime.

Then, after firing his counsel, he pled guilty to all accounts.

The three judge panel sentenced him to death for each of the three murder accounts.

Though later, the Nevada Supreme Court upheld the death sentences for the saloon murders,

but vacated the one for Laura Van Vute.

He was then sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.
