Hello, Dreamers, and welcome to the final episode of the series that we have been stuck on.

We are discussing the interrogation of Rebecca Rogers, who shot and killed her husband of 14 years,

Jason Rogers, and claiming to have done so in self-defense.

The fundamental problem with that is Rebecca shot Jason in the back. And because of

that uncomfortable, inconvenient fact, the detectives went into this interrogation that we've

been discussing with Rebecca seemingly banking on the fact that the shots in the back and in the

back of the head would speak to murder on their own.

However, Rebecca managed to put her self-defense story out there early enough for it to have been taken into consideration to an extent.

It wasn't something that Rebecca had come up with after the fact, after any significant amount of time, like an afterthought, so to speak. No, it didn't happen that way.

She said that she was defending her life as early as the 911 call that she made to report that she had shot Jason.

And while that garnered Rebecca public support at the time,

it wasn't enough to get her off completely scot-free,

like an actual real case of self-defense would have.

The public support, along with the support of her daughters,

was apparently enough for Rebecca to be able to plead her case down from second-degree murder to manslaughter,

ultimately landing her in prison for only two years with 13 years of probation.

But while listening to her interrogation carefully and dissecting it across these five episodes,

I have come to believe that Rebecca Rogers got away with premeditated first-degree murder.

She told so many lies and so many inconsistencies,

in addition to the fact that all three of the bullets that she put into Jason's body

entered in a back-to-front trajectory, directly contradicting her story that he was coming

after her when she shot him.
