In Apurokshanubhuti, we were studying Nidhyasana, Vedantic meditation. You know know when studying Vedantanth, there are three stages.

First, shravana, hearing or systematic study. Manana, where you reflect reason.

And then Nidhyasana, which is just a fancy word for meditation, Sanskrit word for dhyana meditation.

Now we are in that stage studying what exactly is Vedantic meditation.

And the author Adi Shankaracharya has taken a very interesting approach.

He has borrowed terms from yoga.

Yoga is actually the science of meditation.

So they are experts in meditation.

He has borrowed the terms from yoga and then changed the meaning.

He's given new interpretations in the light of Vedantanth.

So 15 practices to stabilize us in the awareness of Brahman or in our identity

as Brahman. 15 practices, all of these terms are borrowed from some aspect of yoga or the other.

Especially eight of them are borrowed from the famous Ashtanga Yoga of Patanjali.

In the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, you will find Ashtanga Yoga.

So eight of those, the terms are borrowed from the eight-limbed yoga of Patanjali.

But then there are others also, seven others.

So total of 15 terms.
